Consecration, $49

Consecrated by our priest before it reaches you

Orthodox Christians have a new icon or cross consecrated before they hang it or wear it. Ask for it as you choose, and our priest does it for you.

  1. Choose it, and ask for Consecration

Tick Consecration ($49) where an item's page offers it, or say yes when we ask as you add it to your cart.

  2. A priest's hand sprinkles holy water from a sprig of basil over a folding diptych of the Guardian Angel and St Nicholas, droplets caught in candlelight.

    Our priest consecrates it

With holy water and the prayers of the Church. A cross, an icon or a medallion before it ships, commemorating the person you name. A folding diptych before it left the workshop, one by one, filmed with its number on a card.

  3. A priest's hand signs a cream consecration certificate beside a small vial of holy water, a folding diptych of the Guardian Angel and St Nicholas standing open behind.

A signed certificate and holy water

It comes with a certificate signed by our priest (a diptych's carries its number) and a small vial of holy water for the home.

  4. A plain white mailer box open on an ochre backdrop with the closed red velvet diptych case inside on ivory tissue, a roll of kraft tape beside it.

    Ready for the icon corner

A consecrated diptych ships in the normal time; other orders with Consecration ship in 3–8 business days. To all 50 states. Consecrated items are final sale.

About ConsecrationYou can add a personal video of your item’s Consecration as you check out; a diptych’s is the film of your own numbered diptych.

Questions

Before you choose

What is Consecration?

Our priest consecrates your item with holy water and the prayers of the Church. The folding diptychs he consecrates one by one before they leave the workshop, filming each with its number on a card, and a diptych comes consecrated while those are in stock: its number is on its box and its certificate, and the name you give us is prayed for separately. A cross, an icon or a medallion he consecrates before it ships, commemorating the person you name. Each comes with a certificate he signs and a small vial of holy water. Consecration is $49 an item, and you can add a personal video of your item’s Consecration as you check out. How Consecration works

How do I choose the right saint?

Most people choose the saint whose name the person bears: type a first name into the saint finder and we’ll show their patron saint and name day. You can also choose by need: the saints the Church turns to for travellers, soldiers, the sick, mothers and more. A saint for every need

How long does delivery take?

We pack every order by hand within two business days and ship to all 50 states, DC and APO/FPO addresses. Shipping is free on orders of $99 or more, and $6.95 below that. A consecrated diptych ships in that time too; other orders with Consecration ship in 3–8 business days. Shipping

How big is a folding diptych?

8 × 9.5 cm folded (3.15 × 3.55 in) and 16.5 × 9.5 cm open (6.3 × 3.55 in), 3.5 cm thick: two pine frames with the icons printed under glass, velvet on the front and back, and a side clasp. Small enough for a bag or a bedside. Made in Russia.

Can I send it as a gift?

Yes. Every gift set comes boxed with a card telling the saint’s life. Add gift presentation ($9) for wrapping, a handwritten card and prices hidden on the packing slip, and we can ship it straight to them.

Can I return it?

Yes: return any item within 30 days of delivery for a refund. Consecrated items are final sale. Returns

Do you ship outside the US?

Not yet. We ship to all 50 states, DC and APO/FPO addresses.

Lampada

A light before dawn.

In an Orthodox home a small lamp burns before the icons through the night, and the saints whose names the family bears keep watch beside it. We gather what belongs in that corner, and send it ready for prayer.
